Bjorn Apiaries
Classes held in working apiaries, with hands-on practical application. If you want more than the standard bee class with 8 hours of "talk", then this is for you. We passed on the power-point picture of a queen, and think it's better for you to see the real thing. That's our philosophy.

Bjorn Apiaries has been holding open houses, classes, and other functions at it's Honeycomb Farm location for 10 years now. Classes are instructed with former state bee inspectors as well as experts in the field. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned beekeeper, we all learn from each other in social style instruction.

Classes at Bjorn Apiaries range from sustainable beekeeping, queen rearing, and inspector classes. We also cover alternative styles of beekeeping.
Classes are not classroom only instruction. They are hands-on and proactive. The best way to learn while having fun with other beekeepers.

"Sustainable Beekeeping - A More Natural Approach"

A complete look inside the hive as it pertains to hive dynamics and

non-chemical IPM approaches. This is designed for beginners as well as season beekeepers. We cover the different equipment choices to include foundationless comb options, varroa control, comb management, the power of requeening, and many other concepts you will not find elsewhere. This is especially helpful to those wanting to get off the chemical treatment treadmill. A great class to broaden your beekeeping skills.

"Queen Rearing - And a Quality Queen Program"

A class designed for those wanting to raise queens, while understanding the full concept of a quality breeding program. We cover grafting with ample time for hands-on application. Items covered also include drone yard setup, genetic selection, evaluating queens, non-grafting techniques, and many other aspects of producing your own queens. Members of NSQBA (Northern States Queen Breeders Association) will be available to assist. If you have always wanted to raise queens, hesitant of grafting, or are just thinking of expanding your beekeeping knowledge, come join this fun and informative class. We teach you the details that you can actually go back and apply within your own operation.
